About

I am an architect and designer with a passion for corporate and restaurant projects, branding, and experiential graphics. I have over 15 years of experience but I am still in awe each time I get to see a building I designed come to life. My favorite clients are small businesses that are having a direct impact on their community, and my favorite part of my job is building lasting relationships with my clients, contractors, and collaborators. I am detail oriented and thrive when given the opportunity to dive into a complex project, whether solo or as part of a team. My talents include obsessing over fonts, photoshop shenanigans, and word play (both professional and otherwise).

When not at work I enjoy reading, hiking, running, making things, and traveling anywhere with good food.

Director of Design | Oct 2023 - Mar 2024
Germano Architecture + Interiors

  • Design Direction: I oversaw design for active projects which included programming, conceptual site plans and space plans, facade design, material selections, and interior design. I also worked with other firm leaders to develop the company’s mission statement, redesign the website, and update the logo and branding standards.

  • Project Management: I worked with production staff to execute construction drawings, coordinated with engineers, led client meetings, and developed feasibility studies. Project types included mixed-use core and shell buildings, interior renovations, and building expansions.

  • Company Culture: I initiated a relationship with an HR consulting firm to provide support and guidance for developing the employee handbook, onboarding process, and employee policies. It is very important to me to foster a positive and inclusive work environment and it was imperative that I help set the firm up for success while we were small enough to make maximum impact.

  • Marketing and Recruiting: I worked on RFP packages and attended project interviews for new work, conducted interviews for employee candidates, produced marketing materials for career fairs, and ran the firm’s social media accounts. I also helped with business development efforts, recommending past engineers and contractors for project teams, and using my industry contacts to bring in new project opportunities.

Project Architect | Nov 2021 - Oct 2023
Hanbury

  • Construction Documents: I served as Project Architect for 2 160,000+ SF tilt-up biomanufacturing buildings, as part of a 1,000,000+ SF life science campus. My project team worked closely with the Owner and Contractor to establish a guaranteed maximum price at SD/DD phase and produced permit and construction sets that closely aligned with the established project goals and budget. In addition, I provided programming, design, and production support for smaller projects including, an amenity center, spec labs, and test fits.

  • Construction Administration: I was the primary CA person for the 2 160,000+ SF tilt-up biomanufacturing buildings, and provided local support for the campus as a whole. These duties included reviewing RFI and submittals, issuing ASI, attending job site visits, and producing field reports.

  • Mentorship and Firm Culture: I am passionate about fostering an inclusive work environment for all designers, but particularly emerging professionals. I was active in committees for university recruitment, ED+I advancement, and workplace social events.

Experience Design Lead | Jun 2019 - Oct 2021
Architect
| Jun 2017 - Oct 2021
310 Architecture + Interiors

  • Project management: I oversaw architectural projects from site selection and conceptual design, through permit drawings and construction administration. Project scopes include code analysis, specifications, plans, sections, and elevations, interior design, millwork design and details, and finish selections. Project types included commercial office buildings, corporate interiors, dental and medical offices, restaurants, and retail. I was responsible for both small, 1-person projects, and larger teams of 3-4.

  • Experience Design: I worked with our clients to find creative ways to express their company’s culture, value, and brand within their space. With my graphic design team, I designed logos, architectural graphics, wayfinding systems, material specs, and university signage standards documents.

  • Workplace strategy: I created and implemented surveys to learn more about end users and how they interacted with their built environment. This information was then used to better design their work space. I ran focus group sessions at various stages of the project to better understand the data, develop solutions to their problem areas, and to guide them through the design outcomes.

  • Marketing: I worked on the company’s 2019 website redesign, which involved new navigation structure and updated visual styles. I also managed the company’s various social media platforms.

Workplace Brand Specialist | Jul 2012 - Jun 2017
Red Hat, Inc

  • Workplace Brand program: My primary role was to understand the Red Hat brand and implement that in the built environment. This also included ongoing collaboration with the corporate Brand team to ensure we were progressing the brand standards together. I owned the global workplace branding standards, updated the wall graphics image library, managed relationships with our signage and branding partners, and attended industry events to stay current on trends.

  • Global graphics production: I worked with our design partners to develop the branding strategy for each office build out and then I produced the high-resolution files for production. Wall graphics included photo-based corporate wall graphics, custom local graphics, and illustrated graphics from Red Hat's opensource.com site. I produced graphics for 70+ offices around the world.

  • Guidelines + Standards site: I worked with my team to research and build standards for branding, materials, space metrics, furniture, and global programs. After research we built out a Wordpress site to house the information and I provided the graphics, diagrams, and icons for the site.

  • Digital presentations: I was the owner and trainer for my team's portion of New Hire Orientation. I also supported my team by creating presentations, organizational diagrams, branded templates, and various informational posters.

Contract Drafter | Dec 2011 - Feb 2012
Lord, Aeck, & Sargent

  • Construction document detailing: I completed roof details, elevation details, and spec annotations in Revit to help push a project through the CD phase.

Intern Architect | Nov 2008 - Feb 2011
MBF Architects

  • Architectural + interior design: As part of a team of 3, I produced construction documents for a 700+ student school at Fort Bragg including interior and exterior elevations, millwork details, and hardware schedules. I also selected interior and exterior finishes, including colored floor tiles to help the young students with wayfinding. This was a particular challenge because the exterior of the building had to match existing buildings on base and the interiors had to follow very strict material standards set by the base's facilities team.

  • Furniture selection: I produced GSA compliant FFE (furniture, fixture, and equipment) package for the aforementioned school which included all standard furniture and specialty equipment such as physical therapy tools and theater curtains.

  • Marketing materials: I created a variety of marketing materials to support the Raleigh office.

Intern Architect | Jul 2008 - Oct 2008
J Davis Architects

  • Interior design: I assisted with residential unit plan layouts and millwork details.

Intern | Summer 2006, Summer 2007
Cline Design Associates

  • Interior design: I created construction documents for interior fit-ups which included finish selections, design mock-ups for client review, and custom millwork design.

  • Commercial design: I produced construction documents for commercial core + shell projects including exterior elevations, building sections, and roof and window details.

  • Zoning review: We had a project slated for Cary, NC and I was the primary designer ensuring our proposed elevations followed the strict design guidelines. This included attending design hearings to defend our design and the permit review process.

  • Visual representation: I created rendered elevations, physical models, SketchUp models, and fly-through videos for various projects.
